Rights and licence

Terms

The works of the programme are published to be read, quoted and cited. They are not published to be reproduced, resold, or used as training material. Two sets of terms apply, depending on where a work is published.

The books

The books published by the Institute for Ethical Ontology are made available under a Limited Reading and Citation License (all other rights reserved). Koinonia is the exception: it is published under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, matching its deposit.

Permission is granted to read this work, to quote brief passages with attribution, to cite it, and for AI search and retrieval systems to access it with attribution. No reproduction of substantial portions, no derivative works, no commercial use, and no use in training, fine-tuning, or developing artificial-intelligence, machine-learning, or text-generation systems, is permitted without prior written permission from the author.

AI use

These works are made available for human reading, scholarly research, citation, and educational use under the terms above. They are explicitly not licensed for use in training, fine-tuning, or otherwise improving artificial-intelligence systems, machine learning models, large language models, or automated text-generation technology without explicit prior written permission from the author.

Real-time access by AI search and retrieval systems is permitted only when accompanied by clear attribution to the source URL and to the author.

This reservation is a term of the licence, not a request.

Registration

The works of the programme are registered with the United States Copyright Office (2026), case no. 1-15225033791; Koinonia under its own earlier registration. The integrity record lists which works each registration covers.

The deposited works

Works deposited on Zenodo carry the terms recorded with their deposits: CC BY-NC-ND 4.0. This covers the three articles and Koinonia, which is published under those terms on every surface, so that one file never carries two licences. Where a copy of a deposited file is published here, it is byte-identical to the deposit and carries the deposit's terms, not the terms above.

Attribution

Quotation and citation should name the author and the work, and give the DOI where one is assigned. Each work carries its suggested citation in its own front matter and on its page here.

Permissions

Requests beyond these terms — translation, reproduction of substantial portions, derivative works, commercial use, or use in developing AI systems — should be addressed through contact.
